Last month, Chief Science Advisor Dr. Deborah Barnes presented early results from our ongoing Moving Together study at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference in San Diego.
She found that people in Together Senior Health’s online Moving Together program are experiencing the same physical, social, emotional, and cognitive benefits that were seen with the in-person program, as well as some new benefits, such as better body awareness, greater sense of purpose, and the convenience of being able to join classes from home or even while traveling.
In addition, 14% of the Moving Together participants reported falling during the 12 week program compared to 27% in the control group. One care partner described these benefits of Moving Together for her family member, "She got motivated to stand, & ultimately walk. I was terrified she would never walk again & I couldn’t take care of her because I can’t lift & move her, even though she weighs 95 lbs. It kept her out of Assisted Living.”
We are excited about these preliminary results and will be closing enrollment for the research study soon.
